Defra has published a plan to boost biogas production from anaerobic digestion to help tackle climate change and produce renewable energy. They have offered both businesses and local authorities to turn food, farm and other organic waste into energy and fuel. |

Today’s strike action throughout the Civil Service is due to cause minor disruptions to the Rural Payments Agency (RPA). The disruptions will be fall hardest on farmers using frontline services, primarily when calling the Customer Service Centre. |

As of Yesterday the number of movement cards in cattle passports will be reduced from nine to five, the passports are due to arrive from Wednesday onwards. The decision to reduce the number has been made following consultation with industry. In 2009 only 25% of movements were reported by movement cards and most passports returned following the death of an animal have several unused cards in them. |
