A recent report carried out by the UK's Soil Association revealed a boom in organic foods and products in the past twelve months. With sales now close to £2 billion per year, it is evident that the public's demand for organically grown produce is on a steady increase. This recent shift in consumer preference to organic produce has given rise to some interesting changes in the fresh produce industry, with free range egg sales out-doing those of caged birds and the figures that organic farmers are three times more likely to market their produce locally than those of non-organic produce.
