The EU agriculture commissioner, Dacian Ciolos, has launched a public debate on the future of the CAP. Speaking at the European Parliament today, Mr Ciolos said that the CAP was not just for experts but for all Europeans. Plans to build Europe's biggest dairy outside Lincoln have been put on hold until later in the year. The application for an 8,100-cow business has been withdrawn after North Kesteven District Council asked for environmental concerns including odour and slurry management which were raised during the planning process to be addressed.
